Janitor AI characters are TavernCard files — drop one below for an instant, accurate preview of her profile. The card is uploaded once to generate the preview and is not saved. Chatting as an imported character is not available.
On Janitor AI, open your character → Export → download the character card (.png or .json).
What is a Janitor AI import?
A supported Janitor AI character card contains a character definition in a SillyTavern-compatible TavernCard PNG or JSON file. Desire AI reads supported V2/V3 cards for a preview; it does not transfer a conversation.
Desire AI's parser reads that file once on upload, decodes the embedded card, and shows you a preview built from the same fields SillyTavern itself would render.
What carries over
- Name and the first few lines of her description (used as the appearance summary)
- Personality and scenario text
- The opening message (first_mes)
- Up to five example exchanges from the card's dialogue samples
- Tags — reclassified into Desire AI's own personality/dynamic/scenario categories
- A system prompt, if the original creator set one
- Content rating, inferred from the card's tags (sfw / suggestive / explicit)
What doesn't transfer
- Alternate greetings beyond the first one — the card can hold several, Desire AI's preview shows one
- World info / lorebook entries (character_book) — supported by the V3 card format but not read by this importer
- Any conversation history — Janitor AI doesn't export chat logs, only the character definition, so nothing from your existing chats moves over
- Embedded V3 assets (expression images, alt portraits) — the parser reads the text data, not bundled images
- Proxy or API-key configuration — irrelevant here since Desire AI is hosted, not a bring-your-own-key front end
How to preview your Janitor AI character
- 1.On Janitor AI, open the character you want to move → Export → download the card as .png or .json.
- 2.Come back to this page and drop that file on the import box below (or click it to choose the file).
- 3.Review the instant preview — name, appearance, opening line and tags, read straight out of the card.
- 4.The card is uploaded once to build the preview and is not saved — nothing is stored server-side at this step.
- 5.Chatting as an imported character is not available. Browse Desire AI’s existing companions to start a new conversation.
Comparing Janitor AI with Desire AI
Compare Janitor AI’s current hosted model options before choosing another platform. An external API can add setup and separate costs if you choose to use one, but should not be assumed mandatory for every chat.
In Desire AI's own review of the highest-engagement Janitor AI threads across r/JanitorAI_Official, r/JanitorAI_Refuges and r/JanitorAIUnchained (13 in-scope posts, May–July 2026, full methodology at desireai.app/research/reddit-ai-companion-sentiment-2026), moderation complaints were the single largest category — 4 of the 13 posts, including a 1,068-upvote thread over a ban for "implied violent harm." That's a hand-curated snapshot, not a survey, but it's the most-discussed pain point in the dataset by a clear margin.
