What is a Chub AI import?

A Chub AI export is, again, a standard chara_card_v2/v3 TavernCard — Chub is primarily a character-card library and marketplace (people browse and download cards, and increasingly also chat through Chub Venus's own inference), so most Chub cards were either authored there directly or uploaded from SillyTavern in the first place.

Because Chub's whole reason for existing is card portability, a Chub-sourced card is usually one of the cleanest imports on this list — it's built to travel, and Desire AI's importer reads it the same way any TavernCard-compatible tool would: name, description, personality, scenario and dialogue samples decoded straight out of the PNG's embedded data or the raw .json.

What carries over

• •Name and description-derived appearance summary

What doesn't transfer

• •Lorebook/world-info entries — Chub cards frequently carry these and the importer does not read them

• •Chub's own rating/popularity metadata (favorites, download counts) — cosmetic to the marketplace, not part of the character
• •Any Chub Venus chat history, since that lives on Chub's own inference layer, not in the card
• •V3 asset bundles (portrait variants, expression sets)
• •Creator attribution beyond the tags themselves — Desire AI's preview doesn't currently surface a separate "originally by" field, so credit the original creator yourself if you're sharing the imported result

How to import your Chub AI character

1. 1.On Chub (or Chub Venus), open the character → Download → the TavernCard .png.

4. 4.Parsing happens client-side; the file isn't stored anywhere at this step.

Why people leave Chub AI

Chub is a library first and a chat host second — a lot of Chub traffic is people finding a card and then taking it somewhere else to actually talk to, which is the exact motion this page exists for. The card doesn't lose anything moving from a marketplace to a hosted chat product; it just gets a place to run that isn't dependent on proxy setup or a separate inference subscription.

That also means the comparison here isn't Desire AI versus Chub in the usual sense — Chub isn't trying to be the endpoint, it's trying to be the source. Bringing a Chub card here is closer to what the platform is already built for than fighting it.
